Education & TrainingAfter a career in music education, Katie decided to change course and become a doctor. She attended medical school and completed her specialist psychiatrist training in the United States, and is board certified in psychiatry as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as an Affiliate of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She is vocationally registered in psychiatry by the Medical Council of New Zealand, and is an approved provider of mental injury assessments for ACC.

Career & ExperienceDr Katie Sickorez has over a decade of experience as a consultant psychiatrist. Much of her career has focused on community mental health treatment for adults as well as educating the next generation of doctors. Katie was appointed Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at two universities in the US, and she has trained US medical students as well as registrars in both the US and New Zealand. She served as Medical Director of a large community psychiatry clinic in Texas before immigrating to Aotearoa New Zealand and settling with her family in the Hawke's Bay. Katie worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Hawke’s Bay DHB before moving into private practice to focus on her passion of trauma-informed care.

Location.The office is located in the Hastings CBD at the corner of Eastbourne Street West and King Street. There is ample free parking available, including a reserved space for you in the on-site car park. Look for the Growth Mindset parking signs and please do not park in any other reserved space. Don't let the back doors of In2Learning worry you--you're parking in the right place!
In addition, there is free 2-hour parking on King Street by the school, and free 1-hour parking along Eastbourne Street. With advance notice, we are happy to make accessible parking available directly in front of the office. |

Dr Sickorez only accepts referrals directly from ACC recovery partners and ACC-affiliated providers—talk to your ACC team if you think a referral is right for you. Dr Sickorez does not provide private psychiatric treatment at this time. If you are looking for a private psychiatrist in Hawke's Bay, you might try Dr Lucia Hennelova at Mental Awakening in Hastings, or Dr Anoek Dechering at Nova Mentem in Napier. Where are you located? The office is located in the Hastings CBD on Eastbourne Street WEST. It is at the corner of Eastbourne and King streets, in between The Organic Farm and In2Learning and across the corner from Farmers. The office is set back from the street with a private car park in front. If you are driving, there is ample free parking available—see the Location section above for more info. May I bring a support person with me? Yes! You are welcome to bring a support person with you. However, due to the sensitive nature as well as length of appointments, it is not appropriate to bring children. Is your office accessible? Yes! The office has been set up with accessibility in mind. In addition, accessible parking right beside the office entrance can be arranged with advance notice. |
